January 1, 2007 - PA State Surcharge Increase - Pennsylvania Act 157 was signed by Governor Rendell and modifies the PA Uniform Construction Code. Effective 2/1/2007 the State Surcharge on all construction permits (building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and fire suppression) will increase from $2 per permit to $4 per permit.

Political Advertising - Pursuant to Section 10-1200 of the Philadelphia Code of Ordinances, please be advised that no temporary sign, banner, poster, sticker, etc., including commercial advertising and campaign posters, may be placed on any utility pole, streetlight, traffic or parking device, historical marker, City owned tree, or tree in the right-of-way. Operating Hours for Businesses on Residential Blocks - The Department of Licenses and Inspections reminds businesses located on blockfaces with 80% residential occupancy that Bill 040788-AA enacted into law on January 25, 2005, prohibits the operation of said businesses between the hours of 11:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. Operators of businesses that are subject to the provisions of this ordinance and found to be in violation are subject to a fine of $300.00.
